Pedal around the expansive city parks or join the Taff Trail if you fancy venturing a little further. 12. WORKSHOPS AND SHOWS AT TECHNIQUEST

Techniquest’s Summer of Invention kicks off on Saturday 19 July, packed full of hands-on exhibits, cracking inventions and fun-fuelled contraptions, featuring the much-loved inventive duo, Wallace & Gromit! For the first time in South Wales, visitors can experience the interactive Wallace & Gromit: All Systems Go AR Trail that will take them on an epic journey through the science discovery centre in Cardiff Bay.
You can also catch a new live science show called Brilliantly Bad Ideas. From flying teabags to fiery calamities, it’s packed with chaotic comedy and real experiments. And those wanting to get crafty can enjoy a Gromit model-making session, where you can make your very own sidekick to take home with you. 13. TAKE A BOAT TOUR

Enjoy Cardiff from a different perspective aboard Princess Katharine with Cardiff Boat Tours. The scenic hour-long cruises link Cardiff Bay and Bute Park, offering both a peaceful ride and a convenient way to travel between key attractions. Operating daily between 10am and 4pm, the service departs on the hour and requires no pre-booking—though you can reserve online if preferred. BUSES
It is even easier to get around the city. Cardiff Bus is running services to several great locations and you can also enjoy riding the open-top bus breeze down to Penarth Pier and Cardiff Bay.

TRAINS
Get free rail travel for children with TfW. Those aged 11-16 can travel free at off-peak times and under 11s travel for free on all services at all times with a paying adult.
